Hypnotherapy for Tinnitus can help you successfully reduce your tinnitus awareness and suffering so that you can relax, sleep better and live normally again.

    Tinnitus Hypnotherapy, Hypnosis for Tinnitus

Retrain your brain to help reduce your Tinnitus perception, reaction and awareness.

If you are reading this page, then it is likely that you (or a loved one) is suffering from tinnitus. This weird constant sound that no one else can hear.  It seems like an invader in your head that you cannot escape from.

Tinnitus is not a disease. It is a set of symptoms that may have many possible causes such as hearing loss, obstructions in the middle ear, head & neck trauma, sinus pressure (from cold or flu) or barometric pressure (from diving).

However, if the tinnitus sound is focussed on and made meaningful to you, then the sound seems to shift to the emotional centre of your brain (known as the amygdala).  Once this happens, the tinnitus sound can be sustained even after the original cause has disappeared.  This is especially true if you have strong negative feelings about your tinnitus sound.  It’s like the more you try to escape it, the more it sticks in your brain.

So what this means is that your tinnitus sound can continue, even after the cause of your tinnitus has been treated (or has healed or recovered naturally).

The good news is that you can control how your emotional brain perceives and reacts to your tinnitus sound.  You may not know how to yet.  This is where hypnotherapy for tinnitus comes in.

Hypnotherapy for Tinnitus can be a surprisingly effective way to reduce, control or even eliminate the awareness of your tinnitus symptoms

My unique hypnotherapy for tinnitus process works directly to retrain your brain so that the sound no longer seems intrusive.  My main goal initially is to help you develop a neutral reaction to the tinnitus sound.  You still hear the sound, but it rarely bothers you.  This may seem hard to believe but is very possible.  I use a number of unique tinnitus hypnosis techniques to help you do this.

Once this happens, you notice the sound much less and focus your mind on other things. The sound no longer bothers you, your brain will notice it less and less. You may even go through long periods of time where you don’t notice the sound at all. Your brain habituates to the sound and once this happens the actual volume of the tinnitus sound can begin to reduce naturally.  This can take some time and may not happen with every person that I help.

You may also find that you sleep better, concentrate more easily, focus your mind on other things and start to enjoy life once again.

Can Hypnotherapy really help me reduce my Tinnitus?

Yes, in many cases it can.  Tinnitus hypnotherapy primarily helps to reduce your awareness and reaction to your tinnitus sound.  You stop noticing it in the same way as you don’t notice the sound of your fridge or the air conditioning sound in an office.

Certain hypnotic techniques, along with the relaxing effects of hypnosis can help reduce your stress levels.  Stress can really aggravate tinnitus symptoms and is one of the reasons why tinnitus volume can fluctuate quite widely.

I’ll also work to reduce any underlying emotional issues that may be causing your brain to lock into the sound.

When all the right conditions are in place, the overall level of tinnitus can appear to decrease or quieten, so that it no longer seems intrusive or annoying.

The hypnotherapy for tinnitus principles and techniques are beneficial for all tinnitus sufferers.  To increase the results, I will give you self-hypnosis exercises to do between sessions.  These are easy to learn and very beneficial in providing symptomatic relief.  You are probably already hypnotised to your tinnitus sound to some extent (otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this). Part of the treatment will be to help you de-hypnotise yourself from the sound. So you don’t need to worry about whether you believe you can be hypnotised or not.

    Preventing the Tinnitus Vicious Cycle

The more you focus on your tinnitus sound, the more your brain starts to notice it habitually.  You’re probably already noticing your tinnitus sound more as you read this page (that’s normal by the way, and once you get in touch, I can explain why).

Adding negative emotions such as anger, frustration, annoyance or desperation will excite the amygdala (the emotional part of your brain) and the tinnitus sound will seem louder.  This then creates more negative feelings which makes the sound seem even louder, creating an unhelpful vicious cycle.

If this cycle happens often, the tinnitus sound can become more deeply locked in the amygdala, increasing the chances of the tinnitus sound remaining long term.

So, it’s really important that you seek my help to prevent this vicious cycle from becoming more deep-rooted.

Working with you to reduce stress, sleep better, improve your concentration and allow the sound to fade into the background will all help in achieving a virtuous cycle of tinnitus relief.

How many sessions will I need?

As everyone is unique, this will tend to vary.  However, I would normally recommend 3 or 4 sessions spread over a few weeks to tackle this fully.

On first meeting Paul it is clear to me that he has a very strong understanding of neural pathway reprogramming and after taking a detailed history and goal setting discussion provides highly specific and clear hypnotic suggestion.

I initially booked a session with Paul not really knowing what to expect, being a little apprehensive and skeptical about the idea of hypnosis. Paul instantly put me at ease and addressed all the questions I had while making me feel relaxed … More about the whole process. By the end of the session my life long nail biting addiction seems to have gone away, nails are well on the road to recovery also. I have since been back to visit Paul regarding other issues as I was so amazed by the whole experience and result. Would highly recommend Paul and hypnosis in general, George.

I cannot thank and, recommend Paul Enough.
After 12 years living with eating disorder, I was mentally strong enough, to stop the habit almost immediately. It’s been almost 3 weeks since my fist session.
I have delved deep into issues around
… More the start of my issue, allowing me to take control and live freely without the eating disorder.
I’m certainly living a much healthier life, and excited to keep going with the therapy and healing.

Thank you so much for all your help Paul. It is very clear that you deeply care about the wellbeing of your clients, you have such a patient and kind approach and I really appreciated all your help. Our session recordings which you passed … More on after were also a life saver and helped to reinforce everything. Until next time!

I found working with Paul to be a fantastic experience.
He is professional and personable. He provides a comfortable safe environment which that enabled me to speak freely about my issues. Establishing rapport with him came easy and we
… More were able to work together to address my problems.
I felt Paul understood that people can experience a vartiety of difficulties and life can be complex at times. He therefore seeks to really know the problem and explores different approaches to reach a solution.
I found his methods to be more productive and achieved better results than when I spoke with a number of psychologists on the same matter. He really cuts through to the issues at hand, which is something that really worked for me.
I was initially a little hesitant about the idea of hypnotherapy but I have found it to be nothing but beneficial. It seemed to focus on minimising negative traits and bring out one's positive attributes. I think everyone should give it a go and would have no hesitation recommending Paul or using his services again if ever needed.
      Thanks again Paul.

I've recently had a couple of session with Paul and found him to be a highly qualified and engaging hypnotherapist. Paul has helped me to re-organize my thinking and calm my thoughts through hypnotherapy. He helped me to understand … More how I can do it for myself and provided recordings of our sessions that I've re-played many times. I highly recommend Paul to others who may be considering this course of treatment.

After searching the web for therapists that utilise NLP techniques I came across Paul at Harbour Hypnotherapy. We had a quick phone call then booked an appointment. From the first appointment I got immediate results with my sleep quality … More so I went back for more sessions. I'm not entirely sure how it all works but it doesnt really matter, all that matters is that since my sessions with Paul I have seen massive improvements in all areas that he helped me with. Paul is very personable and easy to talk to . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing help on a range of issues. Money very well spent.
